Today's cab customer expects to be able to pay by card even in private hire cabs as electronic payments become the norm and fewer customers routinely carry cash. Stopping at cash points is always an option but increases cost for the customer.
So, how can you differentiate your company from all the other private hire cab companies out there? Offering card payments is an obvious step up but unless your payment machines are securely mounted, you're taking a number of risks with your investment in payment technology.
Taxi firms will need to comply with the new PCI DSS requirements which come into force in June 2015 to:
‘Protect devices that capture payment card data via direct physical interaction with the card from tampering and substitution.’
Payment Card Industry (PCI) Data Security Standard, v0.3
This means that payment machines need to be secured against theft and also tampering by criminals wherever payment is being taken with the card holder present.
Mounting a payment machine in a private cab is not a simple matter however, which is why Tailwind have developed a specific mounting solution for this market which is now available as part of our FlexiPole range.
Used with our SafeBase product, payment machines are locked securely in place and safe from tampering or interference. At the same time, cables are neatly managed, safe from damage and the cab is clutter free.
